Saturday, and all's well

Saw the 6th day last night. It was a fun movie. Certainly not an intellectual oeuvre, but still quite fun. Pretty obvious that they filmed in Vancouver.

I got bit by an angelfish yesterday. Fahker. Granted, I had my finger in his water and all, but still! That was rude! The good news is that the angelfish came as part of a FISH TANK we got at work!!!!! Yowza, I'm gonna get no work done from now on. I'll be too busy staring at angelfish and flying foxes and whatchamacallits, and stuff. Hot damn, it's right near my desk!

I'm damned glad that the week's over. Last week sort of continued a trend that's been developing over the past little while, a trend of 'cf's department can take on more work,so let's give it over.' Overworked, under paid, but never bored. And what's really cool is that, as the work progresses, I'm simply commandeering more of the other workers for my department. Who-hoo! Upper Management's not gonna be happy when they see that nothing else is getting done because the whole company's working for the Documentation and Design department. Oh well, maybe then they'll finally understand how overworked we are. The problem is that, if one of us takes ten minutes out to do something relaxation-related, like surf a bit or read the paper, that's the *exact* moment Upper Management looks out their window to see how the workers are doing. Accordingly, Upper Management thinks 'great! they can take on more work.' and walks out to lay it on. I can't breathe for all the weight being laid on my shoulders. Oh well, just another week at the office, eh?

Why is it that in the UK, the post is carried by Royal Mail, whereas in Canada, the mail's delivered by Canada Post?

For that matter, why did Noah Webster, in creating the travesty of English used on this continent, demand that the U be removed from humour, honour, etc, but not from Glamour?

And why is it that US English, usually so good at organising things and knocking spellings into a more logical frame (while knocking all the magic out), opt to change -ise to -ize, but not on such an oft-used word as 'excercise?'

And why did Webster think that taking the last i out of aluminium would improve things, when all that did was to make it jar weirdly with the other 'ium' endings used on the table of elements?

And why has the US billion, trillion, etc been allowed to send the UK billion into hiding, even though it had 3 less zeroes and doesn't conform to the logical flow? I mean, if a hudred hundreds is a thousand, and a thousand thousands is a million, shouldn't a billion be a million millions? A british billion is. To follow the US model, should a million not ten be a hundred thousands? Well, I guess Id rather be a british billionaire than an American one, especially as the Pouns worth about two bucks US...

And why the fahk am I thinking these things at 8.30 on a saturday morning?

Oh well, shower time, then going to meet Maman for an x-mas surprise for Lover. Can't tell you what it is because Lover found this page about a month ago, and I wouldn't want to spoil it.

But it's a good thing I never said anything here about that crazy night I had with that waitress at the local pub... Just kidding ;-)
