Doom and the Doombook

You know, sometimes I'm amazed that we haven't blown ourselves into an atom-storm yet. Well, by 'us,' I actually mean one of the myriad nuclear powers (aka 'Dangers to Society'). I mean, with stories like this, how can one not be just a little bit afraid?

Just another little piece of fear. Man the latest new world order is already scary enough. Can something positive happen for once?

Nah. That just wouldn't be interesting...

Well, okay: this is kinda cool...

So, the Doombook is packed up and waiting for pickup. My files are all backed up, and I'm fighting with the e-mail app on the iMac of Doom; trying to receive the notes that just aren't arriving.

Frustrating much? Oh yes, yes...

So, did Sandra Crockett make the right decision or not? I have no idea. This story plays right into the 'survival of the fittest/every life is sacred' argument that no one can really take a side on, unless they're fundamentally flawed or dangerously nerrow-minded. I know that theoretically, we're slowly turning the human race into a weak collection of beings unable to survive without cybernetics and medication. We let people live who would have been culled frm the pack were we still a species that cared about survival, and we're ensuring that their genes further weaken the human gene pool. That's logic speaking. My bleeding heart socialist side says that someone who is born with Down syndrome is still a person, and someone born blind still deserves love, and all of the rest. I believe that. I know where the race will be at the end of this (provided the Yanks or the Indians or the Pakistanis or the Chinese or the Brits or the French don't bomb us to atoms first), and I hope that I come back as a cat or a tree, because I'd hate to live that way. That being said I still think that lives are sacred, from the second they pop out of their mothers.

Hm. Purolator man just picked up my Doombook, and this entry's done, so buh-bye. I'm off to play with my musical instruments...
