Screenwriting pains

I can't stand what I'm writing sometimes. He's so mean to her that it makes me ill. And I guess it scares me that I've come up with some of the things he's done to her. I erased an entire scene yesterday because I was in tears by the end of it, sickened by what I'd just written. I have to take it back down a notch. It's not healthy for me. It's not healthy to conceive of these things.
