The Undiscovered Country
Happy New Year. For to-day, I will not think about the idiocy of the West or the disaster of the East. I will not think of abused children or Anthrax or any of that. Samhain is the day of the dead, the end of the Goddess' half of the year, the God takes his first baby steps from the grave and sets up to carreen, howling, towards Beltaine, still six months away. Today, the membrane separating this world from the adjascent one is thinnest. The dead are here again, converse if you will. Solve the unsolved, get your closure. Remember them as you loved them. There are many thousands of new dead on the world to-day. They no longer care about countries or business or even bombs. They are all of one nationality now: that of the Undiscovered Country. Each 'Happy New Year' I receive gets put into a bank. It builds interest every second; to-night I will share those wishes with my dead.
