Mumbles and grumbles and maybe I'm just lonely, or maybe it's this headache.

Wow. It seems that the Iceman was murdered. Christ, we've been killing each other forever.

Someone told me it was the purview of men to slaughter each other in warfare or jealous rage, but I don't listen to crap like that. The human race is a cancer on the face of the World. Period. Don't waste my time with gender-issues when I'm taking about the most lethal species ever to walk the earth.

Oh, speaking of humans and their penchant for bizarrity, I came across a nice, even-handed report of how we're all having our minds scanned by sattelites.

Um.

A hundred years ago this December, Guglielmo Marconi lifted a copper aerial into the air over Signal Hill in St-John's, Newfoundland to pick up the sorse code signal for the letter 's'. It was the world's first transatlantic wireless signal, and it originalted in Poldhu, cornwall.

While vacationing in Brantford, Ontario, Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell created a 'phonoautograph' using a piece of smoked glass, a haystalk, and a dead man's ear. He would go on to live in both Canada and the US; creating the telephone and various flying machines; found a telephone company, school for the deaf, and the National Geographic Society; before moving to Baddeck, Nova Scotia. There, he became lifelong friends with Helen Keller (who'd been brought to him for help), found the Canadian Aerodrome Company, and finally die in 1922.

What exactly does this have to do with anything? Parhaps nothing, perhaps I'd like to Have a name that resonates as strongly and undyingly as either of these two men.

Upping the ante on police action

OTTAWA New Democrat foreign affairs critic Svend Robinson said this week he fears the extreme violence at the Group of Eight meeting in Genoa, which led to the death of one protester, will set the stage for extraordinary security at Kananaskis, Alberta, site of next years G8 Summit.

The problem is what this leads to is a criminalization of all dissent, a very totalitarian heavy-handed approach,'' he said. People who peacefully, non-violently, want to protest corporate globalization or the loss of democracy can't do it because of the actions of a small group of violent anarchists.''

Mr. Robinson said police are constantly upping the ante' in measures used to crack down on dissenters, with plastic bullets being used at the recent Summit of the Americas in Quebec City and now live ammunition in Italy.

The MP for Burnaby-Douglas said be believes Canadians will not associate extremists with his Party's effort to find allies among environmental and anti-globalization activists.

I think Canadians understand clearly the distinction between the actions of a very small group of violent anarchists and the vast majority of peaceful, non-violent protesters.

Um, maybe a few extremists don't care that they're handing policemen the excuse they need to open up a torrent of abuse.

Damnit. Eco-fahking-nomics, over and over again. Someone make me king. I'll call down a plague on Washington and the IMF, then fill every Transnational's HQ with the toxic sludge they create. I will bring bring Carlo Giuliani back to life, and put the policeman who shot him into the hands of the crowd. I will break Microsoft into a million micro-companies, and let them only develop for the Playstation. I will give every stay-at-home mother a wage, and every deadbeat parent a public flogging. I will make it illegal for anyone to make more than $70,000 a year, and freeze the cost of everything. Cigarets will cost $400 per pack, and the profits will go into Medicare, Drugs will be available everywhere, but cost the moon. People who are caught drunk driving will bear special license plates that read 'dangerous,' and New Hampshire will be forced to replace their insulting and backwards motto with something a little more respectable.

I have such plans, somebody make me God or something.
