Bye bye, mon cowboy

Well, well, well. A group of nationalist students got together over beers and drafted an open letter to Qu�bec stating that the traditional Qu�bec separatist views of people-- that 'real' qu�b�cois are French-speaking white folk -- are pass�, and that we need to re-align the movement to include anglos, blacks, and the myriad immigrants who make up postmodern Qu�bec society, so as to create a positive movement for all who care about Qu�bec. Qu�b�cois and qu�b�coises as a nation, not a people.

The letter went into mass circulation and got spread across the news everywhere, much to the surprise of those students, I can tell you.

To-night, high ranking Parti qu�b�cois muckey-mucks are saying that Lucien Bouchard will step down as Premier of this province to-morrow morning.

Now, I don't think that a little note scrawled by a bunch of drinking university types is what toppled Bouchard's government. Hell, it prolly had more to do with Michaud and his anti-semitic, bigoted supporters, but I think that the timing's perfect. Still, it's a real shock. They did one of those interview on the street things, and people weren't even taking the question seriously. They thought that the TV crew was joking. I mean, the guy survived losing a leg to the Flesh-eating disease while in office, fer gossakes.

There's no way the P�quistes are forming the next government or pushing through a successful referendum without Bouchard, but I'm terrified to know who's going to replace him for the remaining 21/2 years of the PQ mandate. He was a moderate P�quiste, and the hard-liners are going to make a play now, that's for sure.

Finally got Lover's coat completely finished. It needed some changes made, as the sleeves were too tight. I didn't mind the work, as I wasn't doing any. The coat was a gift from Sister and Maman, after all.
