Friday night, nothing to do (updated monday morning).

Stockwell Day says that anyone who can get 400,000 signatures on an issue can have that issue brought before Canadians for a national referendum to make it national policy.

well, Stockwell Day: 0, Rick Mercer:1 or at last count, 615,000 and counting. For any Canadians out there who might have spent the last few days in a cave, I'm talking about this petition. It's a hilarious and poignant commentary on a ridiculous chunk of the Canadian Alliance's election platform.

Go sign the petition, then to here so you can watch one funny maritimer.

It's partly the accent, guys. Eastern Canadians sound funny. It's as simple as that. Listen to Rex Murphy one day (for my three American readers, Rex Murphy is almost exactly like a well-read Larry King with a penchant for satire) and you'll see what I mean.

Then, to completely destroy any image you might have of our politicians' professionalism, watch this.

Um, what else is new? Oh yes, Coke lost that discrimination case. To the tune of a HUNDRED AND NINETY-TWO MILLION US DOLLARS!!! Take note: Four blacks with a valid reason to be angry just taught corporate America how not to run it's affairs. There's also another four black women asking for 1.2 billion in damages, and a shareholder who's lodged a potential lawsuit against Coke for violating securities laws and withholding information to investors.

Coke's bad, but Pepsi backed the coup in Chile, so nobody drink that stuff either, okay?

for any of yous wondering what to drink, there are two choices:Whoopsass (the drink that hurts), or this stuff that a few of you might have seen around.

So, it's the week-end, you know. I'm off work 'til Monday, and poor as a fisherman in February 'til Thursday. I just registered a Domain name, and if I ever get the site up, I'll be flogging it here. Stay tuned, amigos.

I met Maman and Sister for munchies to-day, gave them some money-orders, and they went off to put a payment on my camera. Yay for families is all I can say.

Monday morning update

900,000 or so Canadians want the next leader of the opposition to be named Doris Day, and I went to vote yesterday. 98% no to the first question (One island one city), 99% no to the second (Should the provincial government have the right to change a municipality's powers without consultation). Let's just see how democratic Qubec really is. Sarah, Mystie-baby, I promised to put you both up if Bush won. could either of you return the favour if I have to flee an anti-anything pogrom?

Just as a last note, I no longer care who becomes the next president of the USA. Just get it over with. I'm tired of being told about how the lack of riots shows that the US is a scion of democracy. Less than 50% voter turnout shows that it's not. Irregularities in balloting procedures show us that it's not. A wife stepping into a dead husband's office is nothing short of third-world-style dynasticism. And for the *gods'* collective sakes, the amount of money spent on the last election (New York alone, in fact) is utterly disgusting. A lot of homeless people could have been fed with that money.

Jimmy Carter is constantly being send around the world to oversee other nations' democracies and make sure that they're on-track. Guys, maybe you should keep Jimmy home for a while. I think that the people deserve better than what they're getting right now. I dare someone to disagree with me that they don't.
