G20 gives the proles the beats

You know, it's really amazing how our governments are in bed with Big Business. Governments and their agencies are supposed to be in *our* employ that of the private citizen, NOT the corporate one. Yet, in increasing and alarming frequency (at least in THIS country), those whose job it it to keep the peace, as well as the governments temselves, are becoming more firmly entrenched on the side of the transnational or the foreign corporation, and less on the side of the people they are supposed to serve.

One only has to look to the plan to put a seat for corporations at the UN to see how open and blatant this is becoming.

I think that we have built a society so dependant on the greenback, that it has taken precedence over the Just Society that we should be enjoying. At some point, economics went from being a tool to being the central issue in a person's life. Liestyle took precedence over a good life, and the gathering of wealth became more important than having good friends.

It is not too far a stretch to end up where we are: Inner city kids popping caps up each other's arses for their Nikes, beating people up for their Hilfiger jackets or hats, people being mugged for their dollars by the disenfranchised whom the new world order has failed to keep safe and fed.

It is easy, then, for the dollar (or Pound or Punt or Franc or Euro) to cease being a tool for the acquisition of goods, and become the mantle of absolute power. Businesses become the defacto governments, pushing the elected representatives into the political hinterlands, and stretching their legs on land that belongs to others.

And Where is the Just Society?

In torn, bleeding, tearful obscurity is where. Fucked up the arse by a dollar bill.
