Israel and Lebanon, sitting in a tree...
Something amazing happened to-day. Israel pulled out of Lebanon. I wonder if there might actually be hope for peace in the middle east one day. I have been hoping forever, but I never really thought it would be possible. But this was just one more step in the right direction for a nation that is (let's face it) seen by many to be the main aggressive force in the region. Let's face it: It's not Israel's fault that there's so much violence in the region, nor is it the fault of the Hezbollah or the Palestinian with a rock in his hand. It's everybody's fault, and it's everybody's job to try to solve some of the problems that are smearing the middle east with a big daub of sandy, scratchy shite. But that Palestinian with the rock sure as hell looks back on the 'Never Again' that echoed throughout Israel at the nation's founding with a certain cynicism, just as the Israeli soldier sweating behind his Uzi on a sand dune fears for his country. So many aggressors, each seeing himself as a victim. So much utter idiocy. And now, maybe, a little hope ?
